Hi All!… So, I honestly have no idea what is going on with this blog.  I will try to keep everyone updated with my life in Madagascar as the particulars come along. Hopefully I will have internet access every once and awhile so I can update the blog. If nothing else, it can be another website for people to check at work when they don’t really want to work…

For all of you that I haven’t spoken to in a while here is somewhat of a general background on what I’m doing:

I leave for Washington D.C. tomorrow morning and then to Madagascar on Monday, March 1st. I am in the Agro-Forestry/Environmental program for the Peace Corps in Madagascar. I will learn my specific duties/tasks/and partners once I start my 10 week training in Madagascar. I should know within the first week of training WHERE I will actually be stationed for my 2 year service and if I will be the only volunteer in the town or if I am partnered with any other organizations. I will have a homestay living situation for training and will have classes for language, technical skills and cultural awareness 6 days a week. Madagascar is fairly warm for the most part, but can get cool in the more mountainous regions.  Hopefully, I packed accordingly, as I lost interest towards the end of packing and just started throwing things in my bag as long as I met the weight limit.  I might regret that, but I’m told I can buy a lot of things once I’m in Madagascar. Currently, my carry-on bag is like a portable electronics store. So, unless there is a military coup, natural disaster or some other disastrous event my service will last until the end of May 2012. Who knows what will happen after that…

I’ll miss all of you, and I’ll try my best to stay in touch!
